Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups milk powder
  • ½ cup granulated sugar plus more for rolling
  • 4-5 tablespoons milk
  • Almond slivers or sliced almonds
  • Crushed Oreo cookies for serving (optional)

Equipment

  • Edible Markers optional

Instructions

  1. Add milk powder and sugar to a bowl. Add the milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until a soft, moldable dough forms. You may not need all 5 tablespoons.
  2. Cover and refrigerate the mixture for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Take a spoonful of the mixture and roll it in granulated sugar. Shape it into a log that resembles a finger. Make sets of five in different sizes to form full hands. If the mixture gets sticky, rub a little sugar on your hands.
  4. Use a toothpick to etch small lines across the finger to create knuckle creases.
  5. Optional: For more definition, lightly darken the creases with an edible marker.
  6. Use almond slivers for the fingernails, or slice whole almonds yourself. Color the almonds with an edible marker for creepier nails.
  7. Press one almond into the tip of each finger to create the nail.
  8. Serve the pastillas fingers on a bed of crushed Oreo cookies for an extra-spooky presentation. Happy Halloween!
